Director & founder
Nancy opened the Southern Strutt Dance Studio more than 25 years ago. Today under her tutelage, Southern Strutt dancers are recognized as one of the top dance groups in the United States, and their performances have garnered numerous awards and honors, including appearances on “Ed McMahon’s Star Search,” Lisa Canning’s “Destination Stardom,” and other performances.
A renowned dancer with many credits to her name, Nancy had always dreamed of creating a space for young people and adults to learn and celebrate the joy and art of dance.
That dream is fulfilled each year at Southern Strutt. Alumni have gone on to appear in national commercials, movies, music videos, theme parks, family shows in Las Vegas, cruise ship shows, and Radio City Rockettes. One dancer was a member of Britney Spears’ world tour. Two former students are currently appearing in Broadway shows.
Known especially for her jazz choreography, Nancy has taught master classes throughout the country. She received a national award for teaching excellence from Dance Teacher Now magazine, and was honored in 1999 by Brigham Young University’s dance department as a Distinguished Alumni.
Nancy was one of the original dancers on the weekly “Donnie & Marie” television variety show, and has performed in Las Vegas, Europe and Asia. She performed on several TV specials, performing with such stars as Bob Hope, Cheryl Tiegs, Jaclyn Smith, and Olivia Newton-John.
“My dream is to make people feel the celebration of dance in their hearts.”
