Jennifer Coffey

We are so excited to have Miss. Jennifer back with us this year! She will be teaching Preteen Company Ballet! Jennifer Coffey has taught for six years in Lexington County School District 1 at Pleasant Hill Middle School. She is the founder and coach of the Pleasant Hill Middle School Cougar Dance Team. She serves as the school’s Distinguished Arts Program Grant Manager, aiming to earn $18,000 annually for arts in education. She began her training under the direction of Tamalyn Blackman and Ginny McElveen at the age of 9 and eventually decided to pursue a career as a dance educator. In 2013, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Dance Education. During her undergraduate studies, Coffey received the Richard Durlach Award for Outstanding Achievement in Dance Education, the Student Government Rising Star Award, and was named a Magellan Scholar, receiving $5,000 for research in dance education. Her work and research in arts integration has been shared at conferences including the National Dance Education Organization National Conference and the Palmetto State Arts Education Annual Conference. She has also served as the clinician for the Tri-District Arts Consortium Alumni Summer Dance Intensive for three years. She is currently on faculty at Tamalyn’s Dance Centre in Orangeburg, SC, overseeing the studio’s hip hop dance instruction. Coffey also serves on the Board of Directors for the South Carolina Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance and will serve as president of the South Carolina Dance Association for 2020.
